Bishop and Son Organ Builders has over 200 years of tradition and experience in the art of organ building, restoring
and maintaining organs of all sizes and actions. The firm today maintains the highest quality both in materials and craftsmanship, rules that were set down by our founder, James Chapman Bishop,
in the earliest days. Each generation of craftsmen apprenticed or employed with Bishop and Son has been responsible for the refinement of the company’s skills and individual approach to our
work used today.
Today the firm is administrated by our Principal, Dr Maurice Merrell, who has over 60 years of experience with Bishop and Son, from our head office at Queen’s Park in London, with works located both there and since 1897 in Ipswich. Our enthusiastic team of skilled craftsmen, trained in all aspects of the trade, are employed in projects all over the country under the management of Mr Simon Pulham who has been with the firm over 40 years. We work on organs both old and new and our work ranges from general tuning and maintenance to restoration, re-builds, and new instruments with everything in between.
